Ronaldson Bros and Tippett was an agriculture manufacturer in Ballarat, Victoria. At its peak, it was the largest engine builder in Australia, bringing out the model N engine in 1927 with a 1¼hp and 2½hp version. These were subsequently developed into the 3hp and 4hp models in the early 1940s. They ran on petrol with some versions having a split fuel tank to switch over to kerosene when hot. Ignition was predominantly Lucas RS1 magneto.
The engine proved very reliable and popular and was rebranded and sold by some 68 different suppliers, such as International, Simplex and Alpha Laval to name a few. The Model N was kept in production until Ronaldson and Tippett closed its doors in 1970.
