McCormick Deering 15 30 - with cover - 1928

McCORMICK DEERING 15-30 – c. 1929

USA Flag

157,300 tractors of the 15-30 series were built between 1921 and 1934 by the International Harvest Company of Milwaukee, USA. They were branded McCormick Deering for the export market after the 2 main companies had combined to form the International Brand as represented in the firm’s logo.  A new 15-30 tractor would have cost an American farmer $US1,350 in 1929.

WA Distributors (1947): The State branch of International Harvester Company of Australia Pty Ltd, 789-795 Wellington Street, Perth.

Technical Specifications: 4-cylinder, 4-stroke OHV petrol/kerosene engine. Bore was 4¾” and stroke 6”, producing 30hp at the drawbar and 40hp at the belt, running at 1,050rpm.  Gears: 3 forward and1 reverse.  Weight 7486Lbs.

History: This tractor was purchased from Don Cook of Dowerin in 1984. It required some repairs to worn clutch splines. The tractor had not been worked for a long time but was in fairly good condition as it had been kept under cover. Its driver didn’t like the sun hence the wooden framed canopy which was covered with old jute bags which were so old they blew away on the first breeze!
