This tractor is a larger version of the F2M514. It was manufactured by Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz of Koln in Germany and tested at Marburg, Germany in March 1952. The rated horsepower of the tractor was 38.2hp.
It is not known how many of these tractors were imported into Australia but the advertising of the time labelled them as “truly a mighty tractor … designed to give mighty power and performance” (Power Farming in Australia, 1956).
An interesting feature of these tractors was that they were air-cooled.
WA Distributors (1956): Deutz Diesel Tractors, 159 Lord Street, East Perth.
Technical Specifications: 3-cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engine. Bore 4.7” and stroke 6.7”. Gears: 5 forward and 1 reverse. Output at belt was 50hp and at the drawbar, 42.2hp at 1300rpm. Weight 8800 lbs.
History: This tractor was purchased in 1985 through an advertisement lodged in the Sunday Times by the owner of a Wanneroo hobby farm. The owner had started to restore the tractor but was also interested in antique cars. The tractor had been used to transport other machinery around the farm, but the project was discontinued and the tractor sold. The tractor, which has a 24-volt electrical system, was in good running order.
